My journey started with a high school art teacher who put to paintings up on a stand and said this one is good, this one is bad and here is why. That lesson, 45 years ago, stuck and started this adventure. My journey has coursed through studying the impressionists to creating vivid large-scale abstractions based on landscape. Through it all, is the overriding sense to create a painting that finds its purpose. Whether abstract or realist, the question always seems to come to why.

At this point in time, I have become a pastel landscape artist devoted to capturing the serene and exquisite moments in nature that often go unnoticed. With a focus on pastel and an occasional venture into oils, my path has been self-taught. There is an attempt to transcend mere replication, to seek deep harmonies, tensions, and colorful resonances within each piece.

I am a member of the Maryland Pastel Society and have exhibited my work in numerous juried shows in the Mid-Atlantic region. I currently live in Chestertown, MD and scribble away on the fourth floor of our 18th century home.
